We are delighted to showcase this book, written and illustrated by celebrated artist Ruby Jones. Ruby shares dozens of luminous, heartfelt, hand-lettered artworks and messages.
Life can be a bit overwhelming sometimes, but Ruby's witty, compassionate, beautifully observed drawings never fail to bring a smile of recognition, while her practical words of advice remind us how lucky we are to be here - and how we can be kinder to ourselves, to the people in our lives, and to the world around us. A thoughtful gift for any person needing a little inspiration in today's world.
'I hope that on any given day, rain or shine, happy tears or painful ones, you can open this book and find a page that speaks to you. Sometimes life is the most beautiful dream and sometimes it's incredibly painful, this book is a reminder that you're never alone in any of it' - Ruby Jones
Ruby Jones is a young Wellington-based artist and writer whose messages of hope and kindness captured the zeitgeist and gained worldwide attention after the March 2019 Christchurch terrorist attacks, when she shared her illustration featuring two women embracing, penned with the words 'This is your home and you should have been safe here.' A few days on from the attacks, Ruby was asked to illustrate a cover for Time magazine. Since then, her work has been shared widely and has appeared online with Buzzfeed, i-D, Vogue, Marie Claire and Nadia magazine. This is her first book.
Royalties from the book will be donated to the I AM HOPE spare change fund, which provides free counselling services for young adults in New Zealand.
