This Hei Matau piece is individually hand-carved from genuine New Zealand pounamu (greenstone). Each piece has unique characteristics formed over millions of years, giving them their own identity, colour and character.
Each piece comes with an information card and a guarantee of authenticity.
This shape is a stylised fish hook, and has several meanings including prosperity, abundance, luck, all with much respect for our moana (ocean) - as such its often given to a traveller to promote safe voyage over water.
