This stunning necklace is by Nelson based jeweller Tania Tupu.
The resin pieces are made up of 2 designs - a Samoan Siapo (tapa Cloth) flower motif designed after Tania was given a flower from the Rev Folasa Tupu Samoa on arrival to Falelima, the village on the southwest corner of Savai'i in Samoa - home to the extended Tupu whānau. The wahine bead is a heritage design, originally cast in the summer of 2009.
Her handcrafted 3-dimensional designer beads are woven together with double-sided silk ribbon and finished with an adjustable toggle so you can wear it at different lengths. Pics show it worn at 2 different lengths.
